MEN IN BLACK SUIT

The appeal of black suits and attention to detail
Black suits are still cool.
Formal wear may seem a little difficult to approach in Japan, and is not often given much thought in daily life. However, by adding various elements to formal wear rather than limiting it to a formal impression, its appeal can be greatly enhanced.
This time, we will introduce a black suit that was carefully tailored together with the customer.

Reason for visiting the store and background of the order
This customer first came to us after seeing us on Instagram, and we are so grateful that they made an appointment in advance to come and see us.
We were asked to create a black suit for a special graduation ceremony, but we didn't want it to be just any black suit; we wanted it to be one that truly reflected the client's individuality.
What was impressive was that a customer came into the store wearing DAIRIKU bottoms. I actually wear them myself, so I couldn't help but say "Wow!" What's more, she skillfully incorporated high-end brands into her shoes and tops, creating a sophisticated look that was very impressive.

Design direction and fabric selection
The client was looking for inspiration from a certain brand's double-breasted jacket and slim pants style. They asked, "Is it possible to recreate this design?" However, rather than simply imitating it, we suggested creating a style that would suit the client.
A suit that makes the most of free styling reminiscent of jazz.
We showed them several fabrics and selected our recommendations, taking into consideration the luster, thickness, ease of care, etc., among the black options. As the customer had a clear image in mind, we chose two types from those and proceeded to get quotes.
A few days later, we received a message saying, "I want to make it," which made us even more determined.

Carefully crafted silhouette and details
The fabric used is CANONICO's PERENNIAL, a recommended fabric that has just the right weight for year-round wear and looks great when tailored.
Furthermore, we made adjustments to the shoulders, front shoulders, and buttocks to suit the customer's body type, focusing on the balance between comfort and silhouette.
The collar design features a low gorge and large peak lapels, creating a classic yet striking jacket.
For bottoms, we suggest a modest, not excessive, flared silhouette. The balance is adjusted so that it hangs slightly over the shoes, creating an elegant finish not found in ready-made garments for formal occasions. We paid particular attention to every detail, with an image that suits the sophisticated French style of Serge Gainsbourg and Saint Laurent.
The flare was finely adjusted in 5mm increments by pinning. As the customer was well versed in select brands, we suggested a more sophisticated silhouette, including examples from recent collections.

Tailoring and fitting
And finally, the finished suit is fitted.
The moment the customer put on the suit in front of the mirror, their expression instantly brightened, which left a lasting impression on me. As the tailor, I was also touched by the sight.
Adding a little ingenuity to formal wear and wearing it in your own style is what I want to do, and I hope to continue to share the appeal of the black suit with as many people as possible.
The model we chose this time is "Davis."
A jazzy model name.
