Sanders & Sanders Ltd. was founded in 1873 by brothers William and Thomas Sanders in Rushden, Northampton, the home of shoes. Although it started with only five craftsmen, it grew significantly with the development of the Goodyear method and a contract to supply military boots to the British Army in the 1910s. It has continued to be family-managed for five generations to this day and is now known as a long-established shoemaker with clients all over the world.

By using the traditional Goodyear welt method, which uses artisan techniques handed down from generation to generation, and by using carefully selected natural materials for most of the parts, the company continues to produce sturdy, simple shoes.
As proof of this, we hold ISO 9001 Assurance accreditation, a title given to only a few manufacturers in the UK footwear industry.

In addition, with a background in supplying to the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) and military and police forces around the world, the company has established a unique management system that enables efficient mass production.
As a result, we are able to keep manufacturing costs down compared to other Northampton shoemakers who use the same materials and methods.
As a result, we are able to produce traditional Made in England shoes at great value for money.
