The suit tailored this time, using KUNISHIMA TWILL “CHAMBRAY”,
is a garment meant to express both the wearer and their partner on the celebratory day of their wedding ceremony.
By combining different colors for the warp and weft, a depth is created that a solid gray cannot offer.
With the colors appearing to shimmer slightly depending on the angle, the finish is reminiscent of a vintage suit.
It is not a flashy fabric.
If anything, it appears very quiet at first glance.

Turning "favorite trousers" into a suit
The customer who placed this order is someone who has enjoyed fashion for a long time.
He already owned a pair of vintage trousers.
He loved that silhouette so much that he asked,
"Is it possible to make a suit with the vibe of these trousers?"
That is how this project began.
When people think of custom tailoring,
they might imagine selecting fabric, adjusting sizes, and choosing collars or pockets.
But the most interesting kind of tailoring is a bit more free.
Clothes you've loved wearing.
A pair found in a vintage shop.
A jacket you couldn't part with for years.
You can bring those "memories from your own wardrobe" into new clothing.
These trousers were exactly that.
The jacket stays true to the classics
Just because we based it on vintage trousers doesn't mean we needed to drastically deform the jacket.
In fact, we leaned toward orthodox tailoring here.
A low gorge setting.
From there, a slightly wider lapel naturally follows.
We maintained a generous width in the body while shaping the waist at a higher position.
By creating a line that flows from the shoulders and chest down to the waist, we maintained the tension characteristic of a tailored jacket despite the relaxed proportions.
The pockets are hacking pockets.
The slanted line adds a subtle, sporty nuance to the classic jacket.
The length is not excessively short—it remains strictly orthodox.
Rather than simply applying a trendy silhouette, we balanced the design by reverse-engineering it from the question:
"What should the top look like to match these trousers?"
The star, as expected, is the trousers
The most eye-catching part of this suit is, without a doubt, the pants.
No tucks.
Even so, we provided ample volume in the thighs.
Wide around the waist, with no forced tapering toward the hem.
A line that drops straight down.
This "volume left all the way to the hem" gives this suit its unique elegance.
Calling them simply "wide pants" doesn't quite do them justice.
It’s not about width for the sake of size; it’s the vertical line created by the fabric hanging away from the body.
The pants sway when you walk and settle quietly when you stop.
It is a beautiful silhouette that includes that movement.
And at the waist, we used a beltless adjuster instead of belt loops.
It gives the waist area a clean look while finishing the piece with the air of classic trousers.

Instead of bringing that directly into the present day, we ask:

Looking at the color "charcoal gray" alone, it is very orthodox.
Yet, when light hits it, the color difference between the warp and weft reveals subtle shadows.
On the chest and sleeves of the jacket.
On the parts of the trousers flowing from the crease to the hem.
The way light enters changes with the body's movement, and a different color peeks out from deep within the fabric.
This "expression that you only notice when you get close" is wonderful.
From a distance, it looks like a proper charcoal suit.
Up close, it reveals a complex expression through its weave.
Orthodox, yet with a touch of eccentricity.
